Intending My Day
Thursday, June 26th, 2008 at 10:56 pmOne of the most powerful manifestation tools that I use is Intention. Each and every morning before I get out of bed I visual success for that day’s activities and state an intention to support me in creating that success.
An intention is simply a declaration in the present tense that states how it is that you are going to show up in the world. It will be begin with an expression like, “I choose..” or “I am willing…” or “I am committed to..” and makes a clear stance on the energy and perspective you are bringing into the situations that you are going into that day. Intentions help you to clarify and direct your focus for the experiences and tasks that lay before you.
Intentions are different from affirmations in one key way. While affirmations are also statements made in the present tense which focus on a desired state of being, they are externally focused and rely on outside validation. Intentions on the other hand are expressed as the desired state of being that will get you the results that you desire. They are self-focused and personal and require no validation from outside sources.
An affirmation goes like this:
“I am now in a loving relationship.”
This type of statement is deemed accurate or inaccurate according to the facts of the situation. A person is either in a loving relationship or not. For this to be true, the speaker must rely on outside circumstances, experiences and relationships to come into alignment with that which they wish to create in their lives. This is disempowering and excuses the speaker from any and all responsibility for the outcomes they create.
An intention on the other hand sounds like this:
“I choose to be loving in all my relationships.”
This type of stance empowers the speaker and gives a clear focus for how they want to be in the world. Since what we focus on expands, this allows the person speaking the intention to align their energies with that which they would choose to create in their lives thereby giving them greater possibilities for manifesting what they desire.
Intentions are powerful tools. I encourage you to use them daily to see what you can create in your own life.
