Clear Your Space

While I am not an expert on Feng Shui, there is at least one thing I believe to be true about the art. I believe that the placement of objects in our environment affects our energy. Our personal energy is constantly bumping up against the energy of the people and the things around us. Sometimes a harmonious communication is created when two or more energies meet, and sometimes that connection feels nothing like harmony.

Whichever the case may be, our surroundings play an important role in the quality of our energy. Since energy is also a key component in manifestation, it is not difficult to see that when our energy is weakened or compromised by our environment, so is our ability to create the results that we desire in our lives.

The solution: clear your space!

Recently I’ve noticed that I’m having a hard time focusing on one thing at a time. When I set to work on a project or task, I have the best of intentions to see it through to the end. What I’m finding, however, is that more often than not I get distracted by a thousand little things that get my attention rerouted in just as many new directions. I do a little bit of work on one task, which leads me to thinking about this other project that I’ve been working on for awhile, and that starts me looking in new directions, and so on and so forth. Before I know it, I can’t remember what it was that I set out to do in the first place.

Although I’ve been aware of this work pattern, what has only just recently come to my attention is the fact that the office where I work is filled with clutter and distractions. My outside world is definitely a mirror for my inner machinations. I have piles of paper on my desk, on top of the printer and even on the floor. The work table behind me has an accumulation of various objects for which a more suitable home has not yet been found. My environment is definitely not conducive to focus, therefore neither is my energy.

What I need to do: clear my space!

The problem always seems to be that the task of cleaning and clearing feels daunting. Where do I begin? What do I do with all this stuff? Do I have enough time to get through such an endeavor? Sometimes these thoughts can lead me to a feeling of overwhelm, which is something I want to avoid because I don’t want to become stuck or paralyzed with inaction.

The best way I have found to deal with this is to simply commit to spending 15-20 minutes a day working on clearing my space. I literally set the timer and get to work. I work on sorting, organizing, rearranging, recycling, donating, and/or disposing of the items that are weighing down my energy. When the time is up, I can choose to continue working on the clutter if I feel like it, or I can move to the other tasks that need my attention. If I don’t get it done today, it’s okay because I know that I’ll work on it a little bit more tomorrow and the next day and the next until it gets completely finished.

And as I begin to feel the clearing of energy in my surroundings, I also begin to notice the clearing of my personal energy, freeing me to deal with the rest of life’s tasks.

Exactly!!!
Here is one of my personal favorite passages from J.A.R. Harmonic Wealth - page 119 - Extract from “The Alchemy of Time”: “Contrary to popular belief, a disciplined and organized life is actually a liberated life. With your discipline you’re transmuting what was once chaotic and random into something organized and directed. This new directed energy can be focused like a laser into creating what you want.”
This helped me prove to myself that I wasn’t, according to my friends’ comments, just some obsessive anal-retentive freak of nature but rather an advanced and liberated Sentient going on Spiritual Being, thank you very much!
